Prologue

 

January 1814 found the Canadas in a gruelling, seemingly unending conflict with American forces. Poor communication, rumours, treachery, and deceit were becoming commonplace. The harsh winter added to the many miseries the Canadians were forced to endure. The war was becoming more intense, bloodier, and even more deceptive. Traitors, marauders, thieves, and opportunists abounded.

This would not deter Elizabeth in her heartfelt quest to find her father and also the man that she lost to her selfish pride. Would this obsession become a fatal blow to Elizabeth?

“You retired my services with your Intelligence Corps. I know you remember that! You ordered me to join the regiment headed to that godforsaken farm, to that bloodbath beside the St. Lawrence.”
